62 Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?

Dresden Really depends on what kind of help.

12 What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?

Chauvinist pig These days? "Yes, sir."

65 Who is the person you despise the most, and why?

One person? I think it's more of a group. The idiots who have the power to stop some of the things that are very wrong - but do nothing about it.
... Though I can't say that my second Ex didn't come close, at various points of time.

69 Do you care what others think of you?

What some others think of me, yes. What every Tom, Dick, and Ha-- What most people think of me? No.

36 What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?

Lo-- your father.

99 What three words would others probably use to describe you?

I've heard anything from 'bitch' to 'crazy' to 'hero'. I'd rather people helped, rather than staying around trying to describe me, honestly.

43 What are your political views?

What politics? International? National? Inside the CPD?
... cynical.

25 As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

Hmm. Somewhat. Looking 'cute', being an orphan whose dad used to be a cop, and martial arts were definitely points in my favor. My tongue... wasn't.
Those who didn't care for bullies and didn't mind a bit of sarcasm now and again. Those were the friends that would stick by me. Not always the ones I could count on in a fight, but at least they didn't try to make me pretend.

12 What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?

Hey, didn't I just answer that one?

90 Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

Good:
- Aikido
- Investigating
- Sticking around in a fight till I win.

Bad:
- Choose my battles
- Marriage
- Family, generally.

I would have to agree that you're very good at sticking around in a fight until you win. At least what I saw in the Deeps, both times.

Personally, I've always been complimented when someone calls me bitch. It means I had the desired effect with that person.

Thank you. It's a pity that so many of the fights are win or die. Or maybe it isn't.

*lips twitch* I can say it's rarely that I'm called that... unexpectedly. Or unreasonably. Though I'm sure the effect you mean is not exactly the same.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?

My first husband. Probably about half a year before I married him.

64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?

Most of the Special Investigations department, probably. And Dresden. Definitely my mother, and, come to think of it, prick as he is, my brother-in-law. Eh, I'm a cop. Say what you like, but we watch out for our own.

76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?

Drink, sometimes. Used to smoke, but haven't in years. Drugs... not illegal ones.

68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?

It really, really depends on the reason and manner of interaction. And how large is 'large'.
But as a whole, I don't feel extremely uncomfortable. I prefer smaller groups though, easier to prevent them from turning into a mob, if things go wrong.

83. What are your pet peeves?

Apathy, Chauvinism, Harming those who can't protect themselves.

29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?

Probably being assigned to SI. My life would have been totally different otherwise. Unrecognizably so, actually.

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?

Everywhere. Each thing that happens? If I don't learn from it, I won't be prepared for the next thing that I have to face.
Although a great many things came from the Aikido practices and lessons. Not just physically, but in attitude and way to look at the world too.
And from home. And from police training. And from people I know. And from cases I've had...

87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My ineptitude for family life interpersonal skills.

73. What is your favorite food?

Pizza with extra garlic.

48. What do you believe makes a successful life?

I don't know, Molly. Maybe one where, when you look back, you don't want to change a thing about... if such a thing is possible.

From: [identity profile] doomgrasshopper.livejournal.com
Did you ever do illegal ones? Like try pot?

Mmm, pizza. Good taste.

I don't think it is possible. Everyone would want to change something. Especially people that were young in the 80s. Seriously... have you seen the mullet?!

Date: 2008-03-25 07:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notevendarkyet.livejournal.com
Not... really. OK, maybe once. A long time ago.

*grins* Thank you. I am sure my mother would be shocked that it isn't something that involves her speciality, but one really develops a taste for pizza. When one doesn't have that much time to cook.

*gives her a look, but is too amused to hold it* Yes, I have seen a mullet. Not everybody wore them. ... just a great many people.

I can guarantee that every single one of them has that as a regret in their life. *grins*

38. What is your best memory?

Running out of the house to greet my daddy in the evening when he was coming home from work, when I was a kid. He'd embrace me tightly and I'd know that everything, everything would be fine.

13. What do you have in your pockets?

Police badge and ID. Wallet, and some loose change. Cell phone. An old shopping receipt. Keys. Handgun rounds.

56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.

A wizard or four. A vampire. A score of police men and women. ... a rather varied bunch, really.
Best friend? Dresden, probably.

34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?

No.

56. see above.

59. What do you look for in a potential lover?

Oh, for Christ's sake! Thrill. More or less... no strings attached.

61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?

I've tried it twice, neither time worked. Talk about bad taste in men, on my part.

45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?

I'd certainly try to avoid it at all costs. But I have killed, when the lives of others have been immediately threatened through no fault of their own, and I'll probably do it again. It's not something I do gladly, but when there are no other options, I won't hesitate.

68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?

As I answered Molly above:
It really, really depends on the reason and manner of interaction. And how large is 'large'.
But as a whole, I don't feel extremely uncomfortable. I prefer smaller groups though, easier to prevent them from turning into a mob, if things go wrong.

30. Who has had the most influence on you?

I don't know. My mother? The memory of my father?
I think it's what I've seen of life that has had the most influence over who I am. The 'normal' as well as the supernatural parts of it. I could say I should blame Dresden for that, but it'd be false. Those things probably would have happened anyway even if he wasn't around, and I don't know how much we'd have survived without him.
So... Dresden, too.

That is a great memory, it's always good to see children loving their parents.

It's also nice to see people not afraid of talking about killing. Mmm that might have came out odd.

83. What are your pet peeves?

Apathy, Chauvinism, Harming those who can't protect themselves.

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?

I... Heck, if the criterion is:
"The pessimist said, 'It can't get any worse than this...'
"And the optimist answered, 'Oh, it can!'"
... I'd say an optimist.

79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
I don't think much really shocks me anymore. Offends... Well, chauvinism. Incompetence in my superiors or the people on whom my life may depend. Offense given to my family or friends.

97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?

... Helping leave the city cleaner from scum of any variety than I found it.

13. What do you have in your pockets?

Police badge and ID. Wallet, and some loose change. Cell phone. An old shopping receipt. Keys. Handgun rounds.

37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?

I honestly don't know. Try to give a warning regarding something where we'd have been able to save more lives if we'd had more information in advance, I think.

84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?

Huh. Up in the morning, get weaponry ready, practice if I woke up too early, go to work. Deal with cases and colleagues and idiots, go home. Catch up on the news, possibly on family. Dine, sleep.
... Well, that routine being disrupted is rather regular in itself, so I'm not too bothered by the disruptions much.

Unless I go missing for a day or so without giving warning. I hate shrinks...

80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?

Practice aikido sequences for a while. Listen to news, possibly watch a movie. Read. Try to find a way to sleep, because generally, it's necessary that my brain is functional during the day. Lives, including mine, depend on it.

31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Getting the Special Investigations department into a working, functional, and effective unit. Which is willing to accept the things that we're dealing with - and accept help about that with at least granting those who'll help the benefit of the doubt.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?

Helping my mother and grandmother. Listening to my father's stories, when he'd tell them. Figuring hard questions out.

33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?

I'd go with killing anyone. I mean, even though every time it was something I couldn't find another way out... Maybe they could have been given another chance, somehow.

32. What is your greatest regret?

Introducing Rick to Lisa, probably. Absurd as it may seem compared to some of the other things I've done or been helpless to prevent...

55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?

My father. I guess... I never got around to getting disillusioned about him.
That's not to say I don't respect anyone else, of course.

88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?

*stares* I'd say extroverted. So would most people who've ended up at the business end of my verbal of physical assaults.

87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My ineptitude for family life interpersonal skills.

Helping my mother and grandmother. Listening to my father's stories, when he'd tell them. Figuring hard questions out.

63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?

I trust some people to watch my ... back. When things are tight. You're actually included in the number who share that privilege.

... THAT came out totally wrong, didn't it?

90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

Good:
- Aikido
- Investigating
- Sticking around in a fight till I win.

Bad:
- Choose my battles
- Marriage
- Family, generally.

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?

No. Generally good and healthy all 'round.
... well, I do seem to be developing an allergy towards shrinks, but I think that is only to be expected. Overdosing, you know.

60. How close are you to your family?

I love them, though we have our... to put it mildly, disagreements. ... It's not like one would agree easily seeing one's ex-husband to marry one's baby sister. *sighs* Lisa's more than ten years younger than me. And Rick's a jerk.

31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Getting the Special Investigations department into a working, functional, and effective unit. Which is willing to accept the things that we're dealing with - and accept help about that with at least granting those who'll help the benefit of the doubt.

87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My ineptitude for family life interpersonal skills.

36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?

My encounter with the King of the White Court.

47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?

There obviously is true love... at least valid enough to give people protection from White Court vampires. One and only one love - one and only one person in one's life? No.

7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.

Of for God's sake...
I'm barely over five feet tall, athletic. Golden-blonde hair, blue eyes. People have told me that the impression I give off initially is 'cute'.
... I am a lot stronger than I look; and have been practicing Aikido since I was eleven - I've gotten very good at it.
I have piercings... one for each ear, often occupied by earrings.
And I very, very, very rarely wear dresses.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

My father. He was a policeman, and he died on the job when I was eleven. I'm the oldest child... even though I've two brothers who've joined the police too, I still feel this is what I need to do.

75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?

Oh. Most forms of entertainment that don't end in anyone getting hurt. Refereeing a kids' soccer game in a park. Snarking at Dresden. (OK, his ego may end up bruised, but that's not the same as anyone getting hurt.) Small joys like that...
